Stewardship: the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one’s care

Stewardship takes many forms here in the Altar Valley – volunteer labor, ideas, agency support and financial contributions. People who support the work of the Altar Valley Conservation Alliance earn a special title. You are a STEWARD.

Stewards support:
  • - Collaborative conservation projects within 600,000 acres of open Sonoran Desert grassland and mountain habitat.
  • - Education and communication projects to engage diverse interests: workshops, community meetings, website and news via various media.
  • - Research Fellowship to stimulate scientific inquiry and research activity.
  • - Scientific and technical expertise merged with practical land owner wisdom, to craft management, policy and restoration solutions that are guided by the needs of the land by people who know the land.

Invest directly by getting your hands dirty as a volunteer! Altar Valley arroyo restoration projects are great places for volunteers to get involved. If you can lift rocks the size of a brick, you can help! If you aren’t a lifter, perhaps you can help with logistics or snacks. Contact us to find a job for you or your group.

(Please note that all volunteers will be asked to sign a liability release waiver and follow safety rules.)

Thank you for your support!!
